MY TOP 10 WORST BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2017 [do not buy!!!!]

Hi everyone! I hope you have all had an amazing week and are having a restful Sunday. My last blog ‘My Top 10 Beauty Products of 2017’ did really well and I did promise you guys my top worst products and so here it is. I tried a lot of beauty products in 2017 and unfortunately they didn’t work out for me. A quick disclaimer, just because these products didn’t work for me doesn’t mean they don’t work for someone else. My worst product could be someone’s holy grails so please bare that in my mind. Also, this doesn’t mean in any way that I hate the brand. It just means that the product wasn’t great. So here we go….

1- Kylie Cosmetics: The Purple Palette

I love Kylie Cosmetics. Their lip kits and their glosses are my favourites. And when Black Friday hit and they had a huge sale, I couldn’t resist buying the Purple Palette. As always shipping was fast but a huge let down with custom charges. The overall palette didn’t blend nicely, was very patchy and didn’t have great pigment. Sadly won’t be using this again any time soon ;(

2- Batiste Dry Shampoo

Don’t hate me! Hear me out. I know a lot of people rave about this dry shampoo and so I really wanted to give it a try. I never used to use dry shampoo and so I wasn’t sure what to make of it. However, I really did not like the Batiste Dry Shampoo. To me it made my hair more greasy and even though it smelled great, it was really hard to blend into my hair. And before you ask, yes I sprayed it quite away from my head and onto my roots. It just didn’t work for me.

3- Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

As much as I love Urban Decay, this concealer didn’t work well for me. It didn’t give me great coverage and I found that it wasn’t a product that I could build up. It did crease when I tried to set it and I did try this concealer with different primers, foundations and powders. Sadly it just didn’t work.

4- Nars Luminous Weightless Foundation

I really wanted to love this foundation. I had heard so many good reviews of this product and when it arrived in the mail, I was so excited. However, I became quickly disappointed and I started to really dislike it. I tried this foundation with different primers and different ways of application but it still wasn’t great. It was very patchy, it would not last long on the face, it became very dry (and I have oily skin so this was really weird) and the coverage wasn’t great. Like I said, I did try this foundation so many different ways and it is a shame it didn’t work for me.

5- Makeup Revolution Strobe Cream

I expected more from this product. I love the packaging and the formula is great. But as a product, it didn’t do anything for me. It didn’t make my makeup last any longer and it didn’t make my skin glowing. Unfortunately, it just didn’t do anything. As you can see from the photo, I rubbed the product onto my wrist and there is little pigmentation.

6- OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo

I love OGX shampoo and conditioners. I think their packaging is awesome and I really do like them. However, the Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo did not do it for me. If anything it made my hair greasier and dirty. I had to wash my hair every day instead of every other day with this product. I have normal long hair so was really upset when this product didn’t do anything for me.

7- Revolution Iconic Lights and Contour Pro

Part of me loves this palette, the other part hates it. For a long time this was my go to palette. I really did like it. And then I discovered other contour products that were frankly better than the Revolution palette. It was then that I realised that this product is very hard to blend, can be patchy at times and just doesn’t sit right on the skin. Such a shame because this palette could be great.

8- MEECH and MIA Browliner

I received this product in my Birch Box last year and thought I would give it a go. It would be a great product if it wasn’t so waxy and the formula wasn’t so bad. I would love if they revisited the formula and released something that was more powdery.

9- Sleek Makeup ‘Walk of Fame’ Lipstick

For all you red lip lovers out there, this lipstick would be perfect for you. But if you’re anything like me and hate a red lip, you’ll hate this product too. It is bright, like very very bright. And if I’m honest, the formula isn’t great. It’s very very creamy which doesn’t look great on me. I definitely won’t be buying a red lipstick anytime soon.

10- MAC Fluidline Brow Gelcreme

I really wanted to like this product. I haven’t found a brow product that I love and I had hoped that with this product it would be my holy grail. I was however quickly disappointed. It is very drying. The product dries very quickly when applied, making it nearly impossible to blend and the products dries in the pot very fast. It is difficult to work with and I am very disappointed.

So here we are. That was my ‘Top 10 Worst Beauty Products of 2017’. Like I said, just because these products didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean they won’t work for you. And I am in no way hating the brand, I just don’t like the product.

Comment down below your most hated product of 2017!

Much Love

  1. I agree with the sleek lipstick. I have this and it makes me look silly. Great post, I was looking at the Kylie palette will definitely be rethinking it now! Could you please check out my latest post, it’s a review on the L’Oréal Infallible foundation 💕

  2. The Batiste dry shampoo doesn’t really work for me either, but I don’t think it’s the brand. I think it’s dry shampoo in general because I can’t get any of them to work good with my hair. I’ve tried the Not Your Mothers brand though, and I thought that one was really awful. It made my hair feel so gross.

    1. I know! I did recently try it again but I’m still not a fan. I hate the Batiste Dry Shampoo. I would totally recommend the Phil Smith one though xxx
