I’m sorry my uploading is a bit all over the place at the minute. I promise you that I am trying to sort that out. For today’s blog I will be unboxing the January BirchBox for you all. Now, I love BirchBox and I have for a while which is why I wanted to start this series for you all. Every month I get so excited when I receive this little box and I love finding out what’s inside. If you like what you see in today’s blog, make sure you go and visit https://www.birchbox.co.uk/invite/brt8p. So without further ado, let’s get into the blog!
As always the packaging is stunning. It is a pastel blue box with the words ‘Stand Tall And Be Fabulous’ on the side which I absolutely love! The box itself has a bunch of pink flamingos and green flowers and leaves on as the design which looks so cute and I think it is really fitting for January. In gold and white it has the words ‘BirchBox X Ohh Deer’ in the middle of the box. Personally I have never heard of the brand ‘Ohh Deer’ but I am so excited to find out more about them.
Opening the box, the first product that captures my attention is the Afterspa Amazing Makeup Remover. This retails for £5.50 and in the little note that comes with it, it claims that the only thing you need to use it with is water. I am not sure how I feel about this product as I am a trusty user of makeup wipes and the idea of a cloth taking my makeup off seems really messy. The cloth itself is pink and feels very soft and fluffy. Would I buy this with my own money without BirchBox? Probably not. But I sure as hell am excited to try it out!
The next item I come across is a full size Lord & Berry Blusher Crayon in Cameila. Now I am not a fan of blush. I never really wear it, as you would have seen in my everyday makeup routine here https://oliviagrace.blog/2018/01/24/my-everyday-makeup-routine-from-0-100-real-quick/ and so this doesn’t really appeal to me personally. However, I do really like the colour. I think it’s a gorgeous pink that could possibly work as a lip product, or I would be happy trying it as blush if I was feeling quite experimental with my makeup that day. I think the fact that it is full size is great and for a blush lover this would be amazing. It retails for £15 and is in the style of a blush stick. I haven’t seen many products like this and I have never used a blush stick before so this should be interesting. Would I buy this in the shops? No. Am I excited to use it? Hmmm, we will have to see.
Next we have a Rituals of Ayurveda Foaming Shower Gel. Now the packaging is a gorgeous red and the product smells divine. I have had so many foam shower gels and they are by far my favourite. This product retails for £4.50 and I sure as hell am excited to use it. It claims to delivers a ‘skin-softening clean wth a beautiful scent that lingers on your skin post-shower’. Now would have I of bought this? To be honest, no. But I am excited to try it and if I do love it then I would think about re-purchasing.
The fourth item in the box is Parlor Moisturising & Repairing Shampoo by Jedd Chastain. In the leaflet is claims that is is a BirchBox Exclusive! and it retails for £16. It claims that it is ‘Lightweight but deeply hydrating’. I love my hair and I am all up to try anything that can moisturise and repair it, but I would never pay £16 on a shampoo. Maybe that is just me, and maybe I am being cheap, but I have plenty of shampoos much cheeper than that, that do wonders. So I am very very excited to try and see if this works. The packaging is okay, it’s not amazing and it doesn’t stand out to me, but it’s not bad. The smell isn’t great. It is really hard to describe but it is not a fragrance I would go for. I think we all know that I wouldn’t buy this on my own accord.
The last item in the box this month is a Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Charcoal. I don’t use a lot of pencil eyeliners, in fact I don’t use any, but I was thinking of investing in one for my waterline. This eyeliner retails for £10.99 which I suppose isn’t too bad. It claims to be ‘Long-lasting, smudge-resistant and waterproof’ which is everything we love in an eyeliner. The formula is creamy and pigmented and the packaging is average. I am excited to try it. Would I buy it in the shop? Maybe, depending on how convincing the sales assistant is!
So that is January’s BirchBox. With the box I also got some stickers from ‘Ohh Deer’ which are cute, but I don’t really use stickers and so won’t be needing them. I also got 50% off my first PaperGang Box which is really sweet of them, however I am not a huge fan of stationary.
I am pleased with most of the items in this months box. Some of them I would never have bought myself but I am excited to try new products and you never know, I could fall in love with blush!
I hope you have all had a fabulous Monday! I have been at home ill in bed watching Black Mirror!
