Girls, listen up.
Periods are the most stressful, gross and painful thing that girls have to go through each month. I mean it would be so much easier if Mother Nature could just send us a text saying:
“Hey girl, so you’re not pregnant this month. See you again in 4 weeks!!!”.
But no. Instead we have to bleed for a week straight and go through stomach cramps, tender breasts and bad headaches.
I swear boys get it easy.
And so today I thought I would show you all my favourite foods to eat whilst on my period and why.
Science says that if you increase your calcium and vitamin D intake it may reduce symptoms of PMS (and boy do I need all the help I can get). I am a mess on my period and so this is a life saver!
Get rid of tiredness and feeling all sluggish by eating more whole grain. Get rid of white bread and rice and instead try brown rice and brown bread. They are a great source of magnesium and can calm down menstrual pain.
Everyone knows that these bad boys are super high in potassium and vitamin B6. But did you know they ease bloating and help your muscles relax? Cool huh?!
High in fibre, vitamin B6, vitamin E and magnesium, these guys are great for dealing with your PMS and regulating your digestion. I love me some broccoli!
This has to be my favourite. Every girl knows that on her period, she needs to eat chocolate. There’s no running away from it. But did you know that dark chocolate is the best for you when you’re on your period? It’s high in antioxidants and magnesium which helps ease cramps and mood swings.
